Tunisia visa for UAE residents

We check your passport against Tunisia's entry list first, and if a visa is needed we prepare the file and the papers, so you do not find out at check-in.

We check your passport rule and file the visa if needed

Last updated

Tunisia decides entry by passport, not by where you live. The Tunisian foreign ministry list we saw exempts citizens of the UAE, the UK, the US, most EU states and several Arab countries for stays of up to three months. If your passport is not on it, you need a visa before you travel. We check the rule first and prepare the file if a visa is needed.

What we could read, and what we could not

Tunisia's foreign ministry site refused our connection when we tried to open it. The entry rules below come from the search listing of its "Living in Tunisia" page, read , so we mark them as reported. We found no Dubai agency price range for Tunisia, and no fee on an official page, so there are no amounts here. Check the ministry's page or ask us before you pay for anything.

The exemption list as reported

Nationals of these groups are exempt from a visa for stays not exceeding three months:

  • Arab countries: Algeria, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Oman and Qatar.
  • Europe: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Ireland and others on the list.
  • Americas: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile and the United States.
  • Asia: Brunei, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Maldives.

Special cases on the same page: nationals of the former Soviet republics (except Armenia), Czechia and Slovakia are exempt when travelling on an organised tour. Citizens of several European states may enter on a national identity card for organised tourist travel. Australian ordinary passport holders can get a visa at the border.

Notice what is missing. We do not see India, the Philippines, Egypt, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Nigeria or Kenya named in the groups we read. That does not mean a visa is needed for each of them, because the list is long and we only saw a summary. It means you should ask us or the Tunisian office before you buy a ticket.

What this means for UAE residents

Your Emirates ID does not exempt you and does not bring a visa on arrival. Three common cases:

  1. UAE, UK or US passport. Exempt for up to three months on the list we saw.
  2. Indian passport. Reports say a visa is needed for independent travel, with an exception for organised tours with a hotel voucher. We could not confirm this on a ministry page.
  3. Other passports. Check the list or send us a copy of the passport.

Families with mixed passports

Many UAE households hold more than one passport. A British father, an Indian mother and a child on a third passport can each fall on a different side of the list. Check every traveller one by one. If one person needs a visa and the others do not, the trip dates are set by the slowest file, so start that one first and book flights with free changes until it is done.

Where a visa is filed

Listings show a Tunisian embassy in Abu Dhabi and a consulate in Dubai. We do not show an address. We confirm the office, hours and document list with you before you submit, because we could not open the ministry pages.

Documents you will probably be asked for

The offices set their own lists, so treat this as a starting set:

  • Passport with enough validity past the trip.
  • Proof of UAE residence and Emirates ID copy.
  • Application form and photos.
  • Hotel booking or an invitation.
  • Return ticket.

Where trips go wrong

  • Assuming a UAE residence works like a visa on arrival.
  • Booking a package that includes an organised-tour exemption, then travelling alone.
  • A passport with too little validity.
  • No hotel booking to show.

How it works with us

Send the passport copy and Emirates ID on WhatsApp or through the form on this page. An adviser checks the rule for your passport and tells you plainly if you do not need a visa. If you do, you get one total price before paying, we prepare the file with you, and we follow it with the office. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. Tunisian authorities decide every visa and entry.

Government fees are not refunded by the authorities after a refusal. Before you pay, your adviser tells you in writing which part of our total, if any, comes back in that case.

Official sources

Nearby trips are on the Morocco and Algeria pages. The full set is in visas from Dubai.

How a UAE resident checks Tunisia entry

  1. Read the passport rule

Compare your passport with the Tunisian foreign ministry exemption list.

  2. Check special cases

Organised tours and a border visa for Australians are noted on the list.

  3. Ask the right office

If a visa is needed, use the Tunisian embassy in Abu Dhabi or the consulate in Dubai.

  4. Prepare the file

Passport, UAE residence, bookings and photos as the office lists them.

  5. Keep the visa safe

Check dates and name against your passport before you fly.

Get one total price

For a Tunisia visa from the UAE: send the traveller's passport country, where they are now and the dates. A visa adviser replies with the right visa, the documents and one total price, fees included, before anything is filed or paid.

Good to know

Questions people ask

Is there a Tunisia visa on arrival for UAE residents?

Not as a rule for residents. The Tunisian foreign ministry list we saw exempts some passports for three months and notes a border visa only for Australian ordinary passport holders. Your UAE residence is not the test, your passport is.

Do UAE residents need a visa for Tunisia?

It depends on the passport. The ministry list exempts citizens of the UAE, the UK, the US, most EU states and several Arab countries for up to three months. Many other passports are not on it, so those holders need a visa.

Can an Indian passport holder in the UAE enter Tunisia without a visa?

Reports say Indian citizens need a Tunisia visa for independent travel, with an exception for organised tours holding a hotel voucher. We could not confirm that on a ministry page, so ask before you book.

Where do I apply for a Tunisia visa from Dubai?

Tunisia has an embassy in Abu Dhabi and a consulate in Dubai, according to listings we saw. The foreign ministry site did not open for us, so we confirm the office and its documents with you before you submit.

Is there a Tunisia e-visa for UAE residents?

We found only reports that Tunisia has been planning an e-visa platform, and no official page showing one for UAE residents. Do not pay a site that sells one without checking the ministry first.

How long can I stay in Tunisia if I am exempt?

The ministry list we saw gives up to three months for the exempt nationalities. Organised-tour exemptions apply to a few nationalities only, so check the note against your passport.
