Doctors can get the UAE golden visa in two ways. As a leading healthcare specialist, you apply on a recommendation from the Ministry of Health and Prevention or your local health authority. On the salary route, you need AED 30,000 a month, a bachelor's degree, a job at MOHRE level 1 or 2 and a valid licence to practise. In Dubai, GDRFA lists 48 hours for both.
Which one suits you depends on your seniority, your salary and how long you plan to stay with one employer.
The two routes side by side
| Specialist recommendation | Skilled salary route | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it suits | Leading specialists in healthcare | Any doctor at MOHRE level 1 or 2 |
| Salary rule | None stated | At least AED 30,000 a month |
| Key paper | Nomination letter from the Ministry of Health and Prevention or the local authority | Contract or salary certificate, 6 months of salary transfers |
| Degree | Not listed on the GDRFA page for this route | Bachelor's or higher, recognised or attested |
| Licence | Not listed separately | Valid licence to practise |
| Extra approval | ICP approval | None stated |
| Tied to your job | Not stated | Yes, cancelled if the contract ends or pay drops |

Route A: recommended as a healthcare specialist
ICP lists "leading specialists in healthcare, based on a recommendation from the Ministry of Health and Prevention or the relevant local authorities". GDRFA calls this group the elite health fields and asks for three things: your passport, the nomination letter, and ICP approval.
Neither page defines "leading". There is no list of specialties, no years of experience and no salary. So the decision sits with the health authority that recommends you. The public pages do not tell you in advance whether you count.
The upside is independence. The official pages do not tie this route to a salary or a single employer.
Route B: the AED 30,000 salary route
This is the general skilled professionals route, and GDRFA names physicians as one of the professions that need a valid licence on it. You need:
- A UAE work permit and contract, with a hospital, clinic, government or free zone employer
- A job at MOHRE level 1 or 2 (ADRO lists health professionals at level 2)
- At least a bachelor's degree, with a Ministry of Education recognition report if it is from abroad
- A salary of at least AED 30,000 a month, with 6 months of transfers in your bank statement
- A valid licence to practise
The rule to remember: GDRFA cancels the permit if your salary falls below AED 30,000 or your contract is cancelled. If you might move between hospitals, plan the move so there is no gap.
Doctors in Abu Dhabi
ADRO handles health professionals differently. It asks for a valid DOH practising licence, a bachelor's degree and a DOH endorsement. It also says nomination for health specialists is currently not available through ADRO. You apply on TAMM under "Scientists and Specialists, Health Professionals". ADRO adds a 5-year UAE experience rule, but only for technicians and assistant roles, not doctors. More on the Abu Dhabi golden visa page.

- Salary certificate shows basic pay below AED 30,000, with allowances not shown.
- Foreign medical degree without the Ministry of Education recognition report.
- Job title classified below level 2 on the work permit.
- Specialist route chosen without any recommendation in hand.
- Six-month statement has a month with no salary transfer, for example after a move between hospitals.
How it works with us
Send your passport copy, licence and contract on WhatsApp or through the form on this page. A visa adviser looks at which route is stronger for you: whether a recommendation is realistic, or whether your salary file already meets the AED 30,000 rule. You hear one total price before paying, with your family on it if you like. The team prepares the file, applies with GDRFA, ICP or through TAMM, books the medical and biometrics and keeps following up until the permit is out. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. The health authority recommends, and GDRFA or ICP decides.
Government fees are not returned by the authorities after a refusal. Before you pay, your adviser confirms in writing which part of our total, if any, comes back.
Living on a doctor's golden visa
You can sponsor your spouse, children of any age and parents, see golden visa for family. You can work abroad for long stretches, because GDRFA exempts golden holders from the 180-day rule. Nurses and allied health staff have their own page, golden visa for nurses, and medical researchers can compare the scientists and researchers route. Every category is on the UAE golden visa hub.
