A UAE resident needs a Jordan visa, and for many passports it is simple. UK government advice says a single-entry visit visa costs JOD 40 and is sold on arrival at Jordanian airports and the Sheikh Hussein crossing, valid for 3 months. The Jordan Pass, JOD 70 to JOD 80, includes the visa if you stay at least 3 nights.

Three routes in

Route What it costs Good for
Visa on arrival JOD 40, single entry, valid 3 months Short tourist trips
Jordan Pass JOD 70 to JOD 80, includes visa and site entries 3 nights or more, Petra and other sites
Advance online visa Fee set on the Jordan site Work, study, other non-tourist purposes

The Jordan Pass site says "the cost of your tourist entry visa is included in the pass". The UK advice adds that you should buy the pass only from the official website and that it is valid for 3 months from entry.

What Dubai agencies charge

Dubai agencies publish about AED 310 to AED 500 for a Jordan visa (published prices of 2 Dubai agencies, checked ). Those are service prices, and one of the two advertises a multiple-entry option at a higher price. They are not the Jordanian fee, and a tourist buying a Jordan Pass may not need to pay an agency at all.

Indian passports living in the UAE

The Embassy of India in Amman publishes a notice on visa on arrival for Indians. It says the facility is purely for tourism. Indian tourists must show a confirmed return air ticket, confirmed accommodation and cash of USD 1,000, or if there is no hotel, a confirmed return ticket and USD 2,000. Other purposes need a visa from a Jordanian embassy before departure. Treat the cash numbers as a guide, because the page carries no date and rules in this area move.

For work, the same notice says Indians visiting for employment are subject to prior clearance from the Jordanian authorities. Indians with permanent residency from a GCC country are exempt from that prior clearance. A UAE residence permit is not the same as permanent residency in the notice's words, so ask before you rely on it.

Stays, extensions and reporting

The visit visa can be extended online for up to 6 months. If you will be in Jordan for more than 14 days, you must report to a police station with a residency extension office and give fingerprints and an iris scan. Missing the 14-day window means a JOD 200 fine, paid when you leave. The UK page says this applies to anyone who entered after but not to tourists, pilgrims, transit visa holders or annual residency holders. Read the exemption carefully if your stay is long.

Documents

  • Passport valid at least 6 months after the date you arrive.
  • Return air ticket.
  • Hotel booking or the address where you stay.
  • Cash or funds proof if your passport has the Indian-style rule above.
  • Jordan Pass confirmation if you bought one.
  • For advance visas: the job offer, enrolment letter or sponsor details.

Safety and timing

The UK government advises against all travel within 3 km of the Jordan-Syria border. Its Jordan page was updated on after reports of a shooting at a church in Karak, and the page was marked current on 24 October. Check it again close to departure.

Where trips go wrong

  • Buying the pass from a look-alike site.
  • Counting nights wrongly, so the pass visa waiver does not apply.
  • Arriving by a crossing that does not issue visas.
  • Arriving for work on a tourist visa.
  • Not reporting after 14 days.
