Liberia offers an online visa on arrival for USD 102.5, but the portal sends you to the embassy if your country has one. The UAE ministry lists a Liberian mission accredited to the UAE, so UAE residents should expect the embassy route. We check which applies to your passport and prepare the file either way.

The embassy rule
The portal text is blunt: if there is a Liberian embassy in your country, apply at the embassy and not through the portal. The UAE foreign ministry's page of foreign missions lists the Republic of Liberia. We could not read the mission's city or services behind the interactive map, and we did not read an embassy page. So we treat the embassy as the likely route and confirm it for your passport before you spend money.
Documents on the portal list
- Passport valid at least six months.
- Passport scan, up to 2 MB.
- Colour portrait on a neutral background, up to 2 MB.
- Flight ticket scan, optional.
The portal suggests applying at least 7 days before your flight. At the airport you give fingerprints and a face scan before the visa sticker is placed in your passport.
Mistakes we see on this route
- Paying on the portal first. If the embassy route applies to you, the portal fee is wasted and it does not come back.
- Wrong airport. Visa on arrival is for Roberts International Airport only on the page we read.
- Short passport validity. Under six months fails the portal check.
- Booking a return that ignores the 30-day cap. Say how long you will stay when the officer asks.
