Libya visa for UAE residents

We do not promise a Libya visa. We can check the entry rules with you first, because the UK advises against all travel to parts of Libya and all but essential travel to the rest.

Travel advised against, we do not promise a visa

Last updated

We do not promise a visa for Libya, and we do not sell travel there as ordinary. The UK FCDO advises against all travel to parts of Libya and against all but essential travel to the other parts. This page sets out what the official advice says so you can decide, and where we can still help with paperwork questions.

Entry rules the UK page lists

  • Your passport must be valid for the length of your stay.
  • A passport showing previous travel to Israel will not be accepted.
  • Short-stay visitors must register with the police within one week of arrival.
  • Cash over USD 10,000 must be declared to customs.

These rules are written for British passport holders. Other nationalities should ask the Libyan mission what applies to them.

The Libyan mission in the UAE

The UAE ministry's list of foreign missions includes the State of Libya. Two UAE ministry news items name an ambassador to the UAE (credentials copy received in ) and a Consul General for Dubai and the Northern Emirates (). Officeholders and services may have changed. We read no Libyan page that sets out visa types, fees or documents, so we quote none.

Who this is for

If you are a Libyan national living in the UAE and want family to visit you here, use the Dubai visa for Libyans page instead. If you hold a foreign passport and a work contract or business reason for Libya, the Libyan authorities decide, and your employer and insurer will have their own limits.

For nearby destinations with clearer rules, see the Egypt visa for UAE residents and Algeria visa for UAE residents pages.

How it works with us

We do not file a Libya visa on a promise. Send your passport page, your purpose and dates on WhatsApp or through the form on this page. A visa adviser tells you in writing what we can check, for example the mission's current requirements, and what we cannot. If we can help, you get one total price before you pay. DubaiVisaDesk.com is a private visa service. Libya's authorities decide every visa.

Libya does not refund visa fees after a refusal. Before you pay, your adviser tells you in writing what part of our total, if any, comes back.
