We check your Nicaragua rule, 90 days visa-free for UK

Last updated

Nicaragua's entry rule follows your passport, not your UAE residence. The one rule we could read says British citizens can visit for up to 90 days without a visa. You pay a USD 10 arrival tax and should carry an onward ticket. For any other passport, we check the rule with you before you book.

What the rule says

The UK government entry requirements page says British citizens can visit Nicaragua for up to 90 days without a visa. The 90 days is shared with Guatemala and El Salvador under the CA-4 Agreement, so a week in Guatemala eats into it. You can extend by up to 30 days by paying a fee before the first 90 days end.

We could not open Nicaragua's own immigration site. So for Indian, Filipino, Egyptian or other passports living in the UAE, we do not guess. Send us the passport and we check.

What it costs

Item Amount
Visa for British passports, up to 90 days None
Arrival tax USD 10, cash
Departure tax USD 35, usually in the ticket
Dubai agency price range None shown

What to carry

  • Passport with an expiry date at least 6 months after arrival
  • Onward ticket out of Nicaragua
  • US dollars in cash, for the arrival tax
  • Your UAE residence permit and Emirates ID for your return flight
  • Yellow fever proof if you arrive from a country with transmission risk

Why people are stopped

The UK page says you will be denied entry without a valid travel document or with a passport reported lost or stolen, and you may be refused without an onward ticket. Short passport validity is an easy trap if you renew late.

If something goes wrong

The UK foreign office, in its advice last updated , says there is no resident British diplomatic mission in Nicaragua and it cannot give in-person support. Replacement travel documents can take far longer than usual. Check what your own country's embassy can do from the Gulf.

Before you buy the ticket

Check each airline's own document rules for the whole route, since a connecting country can ask for its own visa or transit papers. Print your onward ticket as well, because the check-in desk in Dubai may ask for it before it lets you board.
